We gave Arture a 4 out of 5 rating on Redo Sustainability Index (RSI) for their use of sustainable material, fair factory practices, waste control, and buy back policy. Read more for a detailed view of why Arture deserves a 4 on 5 rating! Arture uses cork sourced from the Mediterranean as the main component for their products. They use an Indian organic cotton lining. The glue they use is a mixture of synthetic and water based glues sourced within India. Their threads are polyester and are sourced from abroad. That’s why we have given them 1 out of 1.5 in ‘made of’ aka ingredients. Their products are packed in reusable cotton bags upcycled out of leftover factory waste. Arture’s tags are made from recycled kraft paper. Both, the bags and tags, are screen printed. We gave them 0.5 out of 0.5 for packaging. Arture employs skilled artisans from Chennai. The company claims that they are paid a fair wage. That’s why we have given a 1 on 1 rating to Arture in ‘made by’ aka living wages of labour. They work in a factory which provides a clean and safe environment. Arture wishes to use renewable energy in their production and transportation when possible. Hence, we have given them 0.5 out of 1 in ‘made in’ aka factory conditions and operations. A very small amount of trimmings are left behind and saved from the cork as well as cotton used in manufacturing. That’s why we have given Arture 0.5 on 0.5 in waste management. Arture has a buy back policy launched earlier in 2020. According to this policy, you can return products purchased from their events, website, and other stockists. In return, you get a 20% discount on future purchases. The returned products are broken down to their components and that is used in their Afterlife range of products. We gave Arture 0.5 on 0.5 for having a buy back policy in place.
And that's how we reached on an of 4 on 5. Hope, you had a good time reading our report and understanding how to build a brand that is good from the inside and out.
