Few ‘Sustainable’ Pieces from Mango’s Affordable Line Committed

Right off the bat, we acknowledge that writing about a sustainable line from a fast fashion brand is a controversial topic. Mango has launched a line of sustainable clothes that are stylish, affordable, and biodegradable or recycled. The information that has been given in the product details is the material used for making the product, it’s composition, and blend ratios. What has been skipped though is any information about the factory or the wage the product was made in. So, we can see from the product photos and description that the product is good but we can’t tell who made the product and in what working conditions. Our conclusion on this is that though Mango’s sustainable line Committed may not be fully sustainable but is better than the regular collection of any fast fashion brand. Hence, if you plan to shop from Mango for its affordability or style, do consider their Committed line. They have numerous pieces for women and a few pieces for men too. Let’s take a look at some of the most eco-friendly pieces from Mango’s Committed:

Printed Panelled A Line Sustainable Dress | Shop Now
First things first, this dress is crafted with 100% viscose material. What remains a mystery is whether or not the viscose was forested sustainably and non-toxic chemicals were used for the breakdown of wood fibre. It scores high on looks and affordability as this one is perfect for any casual occasion. It has beautiful purplish flowers printed on it. It has a thin tie belt at the back to adjust the fit. The material is extremely soft. The dress is unlined but not transparent. Viscose works well at being opaque.

Olive Green Sustainable Joggers | Shop Now
This faded olive green coloured pair of joggers are made from 100% lyocell. Lyocell is a form of rayon produced by dissolving and reconstituting pulp. It’s a midrise cropped jogger with an adjustable drawstring. The best part is that it has two deep pockets!

Geometric Print Recycled Skirt | Shop Now
We can’t resist the old world allure of polka dots. They aren’t only cute, today they have a whole new womanly reflection. We love how flowy this skirt’s silhouette is and the colour combination reminds us a bit of Pretty Woman’s polo match dress. It is difficult to make a satiny flowy dress sustainably but Mango has achieved that by using 100% recycled polyester.

Organic Cotton T-Shirt | Shop Now
These days, even a child knows how organic cotton is better than cotton farmed with fertilizers and pesticides. Though, we would like to remark that chemical use is not where the buck stops on good cotton. It is actually the water usage that counts equally or more as it takes 2,700 litres of water to produce cotton for 1 t-shirt. This simple and smart t-shirt from Mango is cut from an organic cotton fabric and comes in 5 beautiful colours. Our favourite is the powder blue one.

Mom-fit Sustainable Jeans | Shop Now
These 100% cotton jeans are on point in trendy silhouettes. You might ask us what’s so special in 100% cotton jeans? Well, the speciality is the lack thereof. It is so rare to find a pair of jeans that’s not blended with elastane that this cotton jeans is worthy of a mention. Go for it if you want a durable and long-lasting pair.
